Recent and Upcoming Performances

I have had the pleasure of working with some great musicians across the country in the past few months.  Thank you to all my performers, who have been incredibly generous with their time and talents.  I look forward to working with you all again.

On October 22-23, universities from the plains met at the Midwest Composer's Symposium at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.  I premiered Olympus: Three Miniatures of Greek Gods on Saturday morning.  Check back soon for a recording.

10/23/10, CCM

Nora Epping - Flute
Jikyung Kam - Piano
Yoo-Jung Chang - Cello
Marjorie Shearer - Clarinet/Bass Clarinet

On November 11, the University of Iowa was lucky enough to host the Jack Quartet.  Prior to an evening concert, they gave an incredible reading of the first draft of my String Quartet #1.  Check it out at http://www.brianpenkrot.com/JQSQ.aif

November 11-14 was the Society of Composers Inc National Conference at the University of South Carolina.  The USC percussion studio (run by Dr. Scott Herring) performed Rites of the Little Hours on Sunday morning.  I am pleased to announce that, though barely one year old, this was the fourth performance of the piece.  A recording can be heard at http://www.brianpenkrot.com/Works/Rites.wav

Coming up, Olympus will receive another performance at the December 4 Composer's Workshop concert at the University of Iowa.  Also expect a performance of a new musique concrète piece towards the middle of December at the University of Iowa Electronic Music Studios.
